I just want to say that I feel like I truly get the best brides ever! I know a lot of people make the same claim, but I’m so thankful for the ones I have worked with. For example, let’s take Ilene and Ron.
First, I want to start off by talking about their engagement session to show you just how nice and thoughtful they are! Their engagement session was at Usery Pass in Mesa, Arizona at a specific burrow. There ended up being swarms of mosquitos and each of us literally got eaten alive! We continued to bond via text messages over our battle wounds after the session. Fast forward to her wedding day. I showed up to the venue but Ilene hadn’t arrived just yet. Her dad came up to me with a confused look on his face and handed me an extra strength moisture locking bug spray! It was a thoughtful gift and brought back those funny memories from our previous shoot.
The bride and groom used the Andaz Scottsdale Resort as their getting ready spot. It’s such a beautiful location and it allowed us to capture some stunning photos around the area.
Ilene had really cute Jeffrey Campbell shoes and the best smelling perfume (Love Story by Chloe). They both looked looked great in her detail shots. It was the perfect brand for her wedding day, and I am so happy she chose it!
After getting ready, they had an elegant ceremony at a nearby church. Finally it was time to party at the reception! They had a mariachi band perform, Ilene’s family made an incredibly funny custom song for her, and they brought out a bunch of crazy costumes to wear during the performance. Her hilarious twin sister even took over the mic from the DJ and made sure everyone had an amazing time. I really hope someone caught it all on video! It’s so fun to work with couples from different cultures because I get to experience a variety of wedding and event traditions.
Whenever I work at a wedding with my second shooter, we always try to guess the cake flavor. It’s usually the standard vanilla or chocolate, so we guessed this was a vanilla base with fruit filling. At the end of the night, we asked them what the flavor was. It turns out they got a horchata and crème brulee layer cake which was a total surprise, but matched Ilene and Ron perfectly.
This couple had all of the elements of a really well-done wedding. They are not only wonderful clients but have also become good friends each with amazing hearts. The two of them even invited me over to their home and cooked dinner for me! It was honestly better than a restaurant and I just know they are going to be phenomenal parents one day with skills like that! I can’t wait to see what adventures await them.
From the moment I met them I could instantly tell they were so in love. May the years ahead be filled with lasting joy!
XOXO,
