Kristina and Brian are such a cool couple. Their big day was one of the destination weddings I photographed last year, and it was held in the tropical paradise of Turks and Caicos in the Bahamas.
The couple flew me and my second shooter Loreah out, and the two of us were able to make a mini-vacation out of it. We had the pleasure of spending a few nights with the bride and groom prior to the big wedding day complete with bonfires and delicious dinners. If you know me, you know how much I love dinner! It’s absolutely my favorite meal of the day.
When you have a destination wedding, extend that pre-wedding invitation to your photographers. You end up getting extra photos! I had a blast capturing a fun bonfire rehearsal dinner with all their friends and family. The whole wedding party was so much fun. I honestly want to be friends with all of them!
Leading up to the day of, Brian surprised Kristina with an extra special gift. Well, actually GIFTS! What started as a single Louis Vuitton bag turned out to be several smaller bags of the same brand. Kristina unzipped one after the other, completely overcome with shock and happiness.
Finally she discovered a little blue box. A few weeks before the wedding, Kristina mentioned she didn’t have a necklace to wear for the ceremony. Brian picked the perfect piece of Tiffany’s jewelry: a simple but stunning necklace.
This place literally had the bluest water and softest sand my feet have ever touched! We walked along the beach during an amazing sunset, getting some personal moments in with just the two of them.
At the end of the night, they played their last song and danced their hearts out. Friends sang a special song to the newlyweds, and they kissed to end a perfect evening. At that exact moment, an insane 20 minute long firework set went off! The couple had not planned it and thought it was a coincidence, but it turns out the wedding planner snuck it in. What a magical moment!
After this experience, Kristina really made me realize what my “ideal client” is. I had met her at former friends wedding where we bonded and cracked joked. She reached out to me about a month later to do her family photos in Williams, AZ. We continued to stay in touch, and now I consider her my total hype woman! Before she got engaged, she actually told me, “Hey I met this guy and if we get engaged I want you to do my photos.” The day she got engaged she said, “I don’t know when my wedding date is, but I want you to be my photographer for both occasions!” Being asked that brought a tear to my eye!
These were some of the best few days I’ve had in a really long time. Brian chooses to love her unconditionally and I am so glad she has found someone to give her whole heart to.
